Location Marine Biological Laboratory The meeting will be held at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, MA. The MBL is one of the most storied and recognized sites in all of biology, being the site of discovery for the ionic basis of the action potential; the home to the MBL summer courses; and a point of affiliation for more than 50 Nobel laureates.
The campus itself is situated around the Eel Pond, a small inlet from Vineyard Sound. The campus is also directly adjacent to the village of Woods Hole. While the campus is of course rich with laboratories, our activities will be centered on three buildings. The first of these is the Swope building, which overlooks the Eel Pond. It includes dormitory-style housing, a cafeteria with a large number of daily food choices (including vegetarian options), and a room for the poster sessions. The Swope building is also where activities such as registration will occur. About 100 yards away from the Swope Building is Whitman Laboratory. Whitman contains the auditorium in which the oral presentations will be held. The auditorium is well equipped with state of the art audio-visual equipment and we will arrange for technical support from MBL staff during the meeting. Finally, the MBL/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute library is located in Lillie Laboratory, directly across the street from Whitman. Attendees will be granted full access and use privileges to the library during the meeting.
The nearest airports to the MBL are Logan International Airport in Boston and T.F. Green International Airport in Providence, RI. From each airport, there is regular (five or six times daily) bus service to the MBL. The bus depot is about 1/4 mile from the conference housing facility. We will arrange for handicapped-accessible transportation from the depot to the housing facility for those who require it. Last Updated:
