NSMRC Workshop on Muscle Physiology

The purpose of this workshop is to provide hands-on experience in skeletal muscle physiology testing to scientists with an interest in the musculoskeletal system.  The course will include lectures by Richard Lieber, Ph.D. and Samuel Ward, P.T., Ph.D. on skeletal muscle physiology and laboratory instrumentation, followed by the testing of live tissues and data analysis.

Attendees are expected to engage in the full laboratory experience and discussions with the instructors.

Requirements: Participants must provide a lab safety training certificate from their home university or institution prior to the workshop, otherwise a one-hour training session with the UCSD Environmental Health and Safety can be arranged. Participants must complete a waiver of liability prior to attendance.

Registration deadline: April 30, 2013

Registration is now closed. The workshop will be limited to 20 participants. The participants will be selected by the course directors according to who will benefit the most from attending.

3:30 - 5 pm Set-up and Calibration of Instrumentation

June 18

8 am - 12 pm Isometric Contractile Experiments
12 - 1 pm Lunch Break
1 - 4 pm Data Analysis and Discussion
4 - 6 pm Reception
